Saturday
We took off early to be at the airport in plenty of time for our flight to Sydney.
After a lovely hire car drive from domestic to International, We met up with Steve and Donna and after hugs all round we set off on our adventure.
Over to check in to Singapore Airlines. Steve and I sat down and Dougie and Donna did the bulk of the check in. Steve and I had wheelchair assistance which is very helpful. After check in, off through customs and to a seat and a lovely coffee and raisin toast.
We were on board and settled first. You should have seen the look on Dougie's face when a couple with a baby sat in front of us, then another couple with a toddler!!! I growled at Dougie after a couple of comments to me re crying babies. As if our children never cried. LOL and they hadn't even made a murmour at this point!! No more comments came!!
The flight was good, and while the baby cried quite a bit, the parents did everything they could to try and calm him down. My hat goes off to them.
Dougie decided to take a sleeping pill....not sure why seeing it was day time. Not sure what happened, whether it was having a couple of drinks as well, or as he says, air sickness, but he didn't look too well for a time. The flight attendant gave him a pill....turned out to be one panadol which I don't think did anything. Anyway, he started to get a bit better by the end of the flight.
The food, service, flight was excellent. I even had a bourbon and coke....we are going to buy a bottle to have one or two....
Off Singapore and transfer to Silk air....bit of a worry about connecting and a real mix up with assistance....we were to be first and ended up being last! Never mind, we made the flight in time, had another lovely meal, Dougie started to feel better although he didn't eat on this flight.
He momentarily made a new friend....a lady from Tasmania and he chatted away, then her friend said there was a seat spare up near her, so she moved.....very disappointing for him. He was ever so helpful helping her fill in her immigration form and generally chatting....hmmmmm!!!!
Arrived and met up with our transport and off we went. A bike accident on the road caused a bit of chaos and the traffic generally is chaotic at the best.
We have arrived safely at our resort. The place is just lovely.
Photos below are of Dougie and Steve at the airport and our room and a view of the pool from our balcony. The iPad was used for the photos, so the night photo of the pool isn't too clear.
